Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) can be really effective. Just think… you and your business get extra help, resources and advice – for a fraction of the normal full cost because it is on a part-time basis.
How part-time is up to you! You could have a non-exec who just comes to monthly or quarterly meetings or someone who comes one or two days a week and really helps to push the business.
There are a number of ways in which a non-executive director can make a difference to your business. The first and most obvious is that it can bring a particular specialism into your business, you could get a finance director or a supply chain specialist, or a project manager. Any area of your business that you want help with can be helped through the use of a NED.
